Great Brak River
Situated in Great Brak River’s atmospheric old railway station, right on the lagoon front and overlooking the estuary, this award-winning restaurant has been serving country cuisine with a French flair for the past eight years. The motto here is “local, fresh and tasty” in a very relaxed atmosphere. Blackboard menus display the wide range of dishes available; the wine list, too, is varied and extensive. Only eight Garden Route restaurants have been included on the prestigious 2014 American Express Fine Dining Awards list – this is one of them.
Chef Maurice Fouche, who has been in the industry for over 10 years, perfected his skills in the kitchens of various restaurants, game reserves and cruise liners. In April last year he and Nicolette bought Transkaroo Restaurant from chef Stefan Jamneck with whom they had been working for the previous two years.
